PBA Odds 23Apr12 – SMC vs MVP Finals (again)

DAL+3.5 vs TnT

The semifinals concluded without much fanfare for B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados. DAL disposed sister team Ginebra in four games with the series lacking in competition after Gin King Mark Caguioa sustained a facial injury and did not play in the semifinal series at all. KG Canaleta did his best to carry the scoring void but he is still KG Canaleta and not a franchise player who can will his team to victory against all odds. The Tropang Texters encountered rough sailing with the Barako Bull in the other semifinal matchup. TnT weathered two elimination games to advance to the finals for the fifth consecutive conference. TnT used its deep lineup to earn the right to face DAL in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

DAL - They have the best import in Denzel Bowles playing for them from the very first game of the conference up to the finals. Bowles’ energetic play and athleticism makes him a force at the low block and at the offensive glass. James Yap and PJ Simon have complemented Bowles with their outside and slashing plays. Marc Pingris has provided his usual defensive presence while Joe de Vance and Josh Urbiztondo have provided scoring support for the Llamados offense. The key for this team is how they will match up Talk ‘N Text’s talented backcourt of Jason Castro, Jimmy Alapag, Ryan Reyes and Jared Dillinger. Simon and Yap are more notable on the offensive end but can they provide a decent job defending TnT guards?

TnT – The only weak point in TnT is their import. Donnell Harvey, with all his NCAA division 1 and NBA credentials, have played inconsistently since he replaced TnT’s original import Omar Samhan. Harvey can score and rebound but he cannot seem to dominate a game when he wants to. This might be due to TnT’s talented lineup but he should be able to make things happen during crunch time since he will be able to get good looks as DAL defenders will stay on TnT shooters and he will not be seeing a lot of double teams. If Harvey averages 22 points and 12 rebounds in the finals, this will be another TnT championship party.

Bet: HIGH on TnT!

***TnT has learned their lesson when they lost game 1 to the Barako Bull. Expect them to come out aggressively and win the game as well as cover the spread.
